Sound Harvest audio workshops and training take place in your church on your own equipment. We even bring in your own worship team and learn how to come up with a great sound mix consistently from scratch. Read more about how our workshops and seminars work.

About the founder
Hi, my name is Bret Welty. I am the owner and founder of Sound Harvest. You might be wondering where Sound Harvest got it's start, so I thought I'd take a moment and introduce myself and write about how I got my start in this unique field.
My own experience in audio began when I was fourteen; I was fortunate enough to attend a high school where they had a good AV Lab. There I learned some of the basics of recording on reel-to-reel, cut-tape editing, and surround sound. My interest in sound coincided with my beginnings as a musician where I spent many hours honing my craft as a guitarist, bass player and drummer. Somewhere between building speaker cabinets, more electronics classes, erecting small PA's, and playing guitar, I believe my true calling was being developed. When I turned seventeen I began my walk with our lord Jesus Christ. Being a musician lead naturally to becoming a worship leader being "gear-head" didn't hurt either and contributed to my involvement in the sound and video ministries as well.
In college I found myself studying more than one subject, Jazz, Communications in Radio Broadcasting, and finally Computers. In my personal life I was wholly dedicating myself to worship, praise, and all kinds of Christian alternative music. Everything from playing often, recording, live sound, to helping with repairs and installs of new PA equipment.
At age 20 I married and began computer consulting as a profession, this led me into computer training which I enjoyed very much. Still playing worship I was lead into the studio for my first album project and later I came back to the same studio only to work there as a recording engineer and later to manage it. There I spent many hours recording, editing, and producing. Only this time in digital formats, both computer and linear.
A few years later, I was asked to come on staff and head up the sound ministry at my local church where I also lead worship at Calvary Chapel in Boise Idaho. We were already doing radio broadcasts and just starting a television broadcast as well. One of the first tasks given to me was to put together a training program for new audio ministry volunteers. I found this project very challenging yet fulfilling. Later that same year, I became involved with an A/V company which produced commercial events for concerts and shows: from fairs, festivals, large and small corporate events you name it. We traveled abroad, and eventually I introduced the concept of an Audio Video School to our management. The two towers were struck in New York at this time and all shows on the books were cancelled. A few months of no-shows and we were rapidly downsizing. I approached management again and asked the company if I could take the training concept with me, my request was granted giving birth to the concept and eventually the company Sound Harvest.
Now after several years of training, consulting, installing, repairing, and producing many events I've decided to offer my services to houses of worship everywhere on a full time basis. I thank God that I get to do something I dearly love and help out in a ministry that is so close to my own heart.
I hope to meet with you soon and I pray that God is blessing your worship.
Sincerely,
Bret Welty
